What Katy Did is not just any old second-hand or vintage shop! It is more of an experience. After taking in the sea air and a bag of vinegar soaked chips on Budleigh Salterton's beautiful beach, you can easily take half an hour out in What Katy Did - browsing the ever-changing collection of mainly 20th century vintage furniture, clothes, technology, toys, records, kitchenalia and local collectors' treasures - the list is endless.

I want you to feel free to scour the shelves and rummage away; in the library or the children's area; or just sit on the Ercol in the lounge whilst your friend changes the record on the stereogram or gives you a twirl when trying on a tweed jacket or a handmade 60s mod dress in the Boudoir. What Katy Did is a vintage retailer with a difference. Not only is there an eclectic assortment of unusual antiques and fun, life-enhancing retro collectables. But what Katy's mum always did so well was to mix the contemporary with the past in her interiors and dress. W hat Katy Did, wants to give contemporary designers a chance and show people that the current fashion for 'all-things-vintage' does not have to exclude the new. That's why I also give local/fledgling artists and crafts-people a stage on which to sell their stuff alongside the vintage goodies within my shop.: a co-ordinate print by Bear Graphics sitting comfortably on the wall above a 1930s dressing table; or some flying ceramic seagulls by Jo Everitt, on the wall above a 50s kitchen cabinet, for example.

There is also a Wish List Service for those who can't find that certain something to sit on, or to wear for a 'do', or a present for that someone who has everything: your desire is my sourcing quest!. We also offer a 'For Hire' service too, for props or perhaps you need lots of crockery for that traditional English wedding.

Katy's aim is to ensure that you leave Budliegh Salterton inspired and with a smile on your face - oh yes: and hopefully with goodies under your arm!!
